Our Board
Jason Hayden - President
Having been born and raised in South East Queensland, Jason has enjoyed much of what this wonderful part of the world has to offer. He also enjoys travelling overseas, which is a great way to remind us of what we have here!
Since the early nineties, Jason has worked in hospitality management intermixed with work in the funeral industry and his own business. All this has given Jason a broad understanding of business needs and complexities, especially the importance of staff and customer relations.
Over the years Jason has been involved in many church groups and is therefore very happy to continue to work in the community sector through Volunteering Gold Coast where volunteering and community involvement are encouraged and people are empowered.
Ian Barfoot - Treasurer
Ian Barfoot is a registered company auditor with vast experience in the not-for-profit sector and understands the requirements of Boards having completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) ‘Diploma’ and the Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) ‘Certificate in Corporate Governance’. Ian’s business specialises in the financial audit of entities incorporated under the Corporations Act 2001 and the Associations Incorporation Act (QLD) 1981.
This background provides Ian with considerable knowledge on the governance of boards and Ian has translated this knowledge to practical experience as a board member of various organisations. Ian is currently the Treasurer of the Volunteering Gold Coast Board and The Beenleigh & District Historical Village. He is also the long-serving President of AFL Gold Coast Juniors.
Anita Brennan - Member
Anita Brennan is a Coordinator and Community Development Officer for the Southern Gold Coast 60 & Better Program - a project she started up 15 years ago. Anita has been a member of Volunteering Gold Coast for many years and a committee member since its inauguration. She has seen it grow from small beginnings to meeting many needs of people on the Gold Coast.
Anita's background is diverse; from working for the Army, becoming a Registered Nurse and being a Director of Nursing for Blue Nursing Service, her great love of caring for the community has led her to her specialty area - Community Development.
Anita is an adventurous spirit at heart - with a love of the country where she spent many years working in isolated areas, she has more recently ventured back into the savannah areas, flying over the Bungle Bungles to climbing Island Stacks and exploring down in the Undarra Lava Tubes and Capricorn Caves.
