Volunteering Gold Coast takes part in supporting and running various events throughout the year. We get involved in a variety of different things from sports, art, culture, education and environment events.

Gold Coast Titans Volunteers (During footy season)

Help us support our local footy club the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans during their home games. We support our boys on the field while they are battling it out, if you would like to be behind the scenes to see how it all works then get involved and volunteer. Its great fun so during the footy season lets show our boys we are here to support them! Most volunteers get to watch the game they volunteer at - so sign up as an event volunteer fill out the hyperlinked document and give Di a call on 5526 0688.

 

Voices in Harmony - The Volunteering Gold Coast Choir (All Year)

Annual singing workshop, Voices in Harmony, is comprised of Gold Coast community members aged 50 years and over. Each week there are 30 choir members who attend the workshop whereby most of the members have had singing experience. Many of the members decided to join in order to meet new people, to socialise and most importantly to have fun!

Last year the Voices in Harmony choir performed in Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise, singing Christmas Carols for the Volunteering Gold Coast Variety Show. Keep your eye and ear out for upcoming events featuring the Volunteering Gold Coast choir - Voice in Harmony!

Australian Sand Sculpting Competition (11-19th February 2012)

The first time to be held on Surfers Paradise beachfront the amazing sand sculptures created out of our beautiful beaches! The competition will run over a week period each sculptor will have 8 tonnes of sand and will carve their piece to the theme “Pirates in Paradise”.  After the competition is complete, and the Australian Champion has been crowned, the sculptures will be on display from 10am to 7pm each day until February 19. Volunteering Gold Coast is supporting this fantastic event through volunteer management, referrals and recruitment.

 

 

Bleach Festival* (11-26th February 2012)

Bleach* is art, music, film, fashion, theatre, food and photography sharing the common theme of surfing and will be on display across the iconic beaches and venues of the Southern Gold Coast.

One of the largest arts events in size, scope and duration ever held on the Gold Coast, Bleach* will feature the works of over 50 artists in dozens of separate pop up events and installations that will stretch over a radius of 10 kms, including shipping containers laid on prominent foreshores, outdoor mobile music concerts, film nights, art projections and more.

Quiksilver & Roxy Surf Pro (22-7th Feb/March 2012)

The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast 2012 attracts the top surfers from around the globe, who compete in some of the best surf waves in the world at the Gold Coast. While primarily based at Snapper Rocks, the competition excitement extends across the Gold Coast, with Kirra, Burleigh Heads, Greenmount and surrounding beaches also being utilised for their world-class surfing conditions. We support this fantastic event through volunteer management, referrals and recruitment.

 

 

Australian Mens & Mixed Netball Championships (8-14th April 2012)

The Australian Mens & Mixed Netball Championships are held right here on the Gold Coast. The annual AMMN Championships is going to be held at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Stadium. This event showcases Australia the outstanding skill and athleticism Mens netball brings to the sporting Arena.

Teams competing are North Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland as well as teams from Australian Defense Force.

This is a great event and there are fantastic ways to get involved! Call our office to get behind the event.

 

Study Gold Coast Careers Expo  (10th May 2012)

The study Gold Coast Careers Expo 2012, is being held on Thursday the 10th of May 2012 at the Royal Pines Resort.

The event will display organisations from across all industries and their career options for you! This is a free event, open to all ages from 9am-8pm so why not come along.
Volunteering Gold Coast will have its own booth at the event where you can browse the volunteering positions currently available across the Gold Coast as well as the option of signing up as a volunteer on the day.

National Volunteer Week (14-20th May 2012)

National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteerism in Australia. It is a week which is dedicated to our hard working volunteers.

It is a week to recognize the efforts, dedication, and sacrifice of volunteers within our communities.

It is a time to say thank you and to show our appreciation through presenting certificates or holding BBQ’s or Morning Tea’s to show our gratitude to the commitment of our volunteers.

Volunteering Gold Coast held a fun-free event on Friday 13th May 2011 at Circle on Cavill to celebration National Volunteer Week. Volunteers and community groups were treated to a free sausage sizzle, entertainment, exhibitors and a special video on volunteering. Thank you all our wonderful Gold Coast volunteers! 

 

Annual Community Walk (19th May 2012)

Assist the Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland to raise awareness about issues relating to mental illness, reduce stigma and encourage community inclusion. Childrens Activities, information stalls and a wonderful raffle will be available on the day!

Golden Idol Over 55's Talent Search (July-August)

Volunteering Gold Coast holds the Golden Idol talent search which aims to celebrate Seniors Week. Golden Idol is an opportunity for those Gold Coast residents who are 55 years and over to showcase their talents to the Gold Coast community and be in the running to win up to $1000 in cash!

Unfortunately we will not be running the event this year but will endeavour to hold the event in the future.

 

Seniors Week Celebrations (19-26th August 2012)

Seniors Week 2011 will be celebrated across the Queensland
Seniors Week is held to promote positive attitude toward the senior and aging population and to encourage active lifestyles for this demographic. It is a week where the community is encouraged to embrace the senior generations.

The Queensland Government supports Seniors Week celebrations to promote positive attitudes towards older people and aging, encourage older people to lead active lifestyles, and to foster inter-generational relationships.

 

International Volunteer Day (5th December 2012)

International Volunteer Day is celebrated globally each year on December 5 with thousands of volunteers worldwide involved in a range of  initiatives such as clean-up campaigns, conferences, and other events aimed to highlight the key role which volunteers play within the community.

We here at Volunteering Gold Coast we dedicate an Awards Celebration to all the volunteers throughout the Gold Coast - rewarding and recognising the hard work of individuals, teams and organisations whom contribute to volunteering. The International Volunteer Day Awards for 2011 were set to be a BIG-ONE, with this year marked as the 10th year since the United Nations announced International Year of the Volunteer in 2001.
