National Volunteer Week (9-15th May)
National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteerism in Australia. It is a week which is dedicated to our hard working volunteers.
It is a week to recognize the efforts, dedication, and sacrifice of volunteers within our communities.
It is a time to say thank you and to show our appreciation through presenting certificates or holding BBQ’s or Morning Tea’s to show our gratitude to the commitment of our volunteers.
Volunteering Gold Coast held a fun-free event on Friday 13th May 2011 at Circle on Cavill to celebration National Volunteer Week. Volunteers and community groups were treated to a free sausage sizzle, entertainment, exhibitors and a special video on volunteering. Thank you all our wonderful Gold Coast volunteers!
International Volunteer Day (5th Dec)
International Volunteer Day is celebrated globally each year on December 5 with thousands of volunteers worldwide involved in a range of initiatives such as clean-up campaigns, conferences, and other events aimed to highlight the key role which volunteers play within the community.
We here at Volunteering Gold Coast dedicate an Awards Celebration to all the volunteers throughout the Gold Coast - rewarding and recognising the hard work of both indivuduals, teams and organisations whom contribute to volunteering. The International Volunteer Day Awards for 2011 are set to be a BIG-ONE, with this year marked as the 10th year since the United Nations announced International Year of the Volunteer in 2001.
